What exactly do we mean by 'creep' and how does it affect your printed product?
If you’re printing Saddle Stitched Brochures and are using a paper weight over 120gsm or have anything over 12 pages, you’ll need to allow for creep in your document.
Creep is the technical name for what happens to the edge when you fold a stack of pages together; the outer pages appear shorter as they're wrapping around the large inner bulk.
This then creates the inner pages to "creep" and stick out slightly. Don't worry, we'll trim this down to give a nice, straight finish to the document edge, anything that is printed over this trim line - like text or page numbers- will be cut away.
But to combat Creep, we recommend avoiding using images or text which go over a two page spread. The best way to set this up is to make sure that everything is 5-6mm away from the edges of your page; to avoid wonky page numbers, images or text being cut off.
